Defence Minister declares 07 as 'Year of Placement for Ex-servicemen'

New Delhi, Mon, 21 Jul 2008 NI Wire

Dedicating to the creation of maximum placements by the Indian Air Force for its ex-servicemen employees, the Defence Minister has declared on Monday the year 2007 as the 'Year of Placement for Ex-servicemen.’

In order to provide maximum jobs to the ex-servicemen, the IAF has established IAF Placement Cell at Delhi and Regional Placement Cells at various Command Head Quarters. It also conducted IAF Placement Fairs at Air Force Auditorium on September 22 and 23, 2007 in Delhi and Kolkata to reach to regional private companies.

This initiative of the IAF was overwhelmingly responded both by retired IAF employees and corporate world and the large number of them were employed by the participating companies.

Forty eight leading corporate companies such as ICICI Group, Godrej, Wipro (BPO), Bajaj Capital, Tata Steel, Vishal Retail, Vatika Group and Ahmedabad Aviation & Aeronautics attended the fair and over 20,000 CVs were collectively picked up by these companies.

Another two Placement Fairs for the ongoing year are scheduled to be held at Bangalore and Pune in September and December respectively.

Since most of the job of the IAF Placement Cell is conducted through the Internet, an independent IAF website was needed most.

The Chief of the Air Force is planned to inaugurate the independent website “www.iafpc.co.in” on July 22 this year at the Air Force Auditorium, New Delhi.

The website will have separate log-ins for the employers and the job seekers. It will have a knowledge zone with tips on attending interviews/resume writing and a host of e-learning courses.

IAF Placement Cell

IAF Placement Cell has been set up at Air Force Record Office (AFRO), Subroto Park, New Delhi. The Cell helps the retired and shortly retiring Officers as well as PBOR to find a suitable job in the Corporate world. The Cell maintains the data of the retired and shortly retired Officers and PBORs as well as of Private/Public Sector companies and sponsors the right candidates to them.

Normally, Bio-data forms are collected from retiring personnel who visit AFRO for final clearance. However, bio-data received though e-mail, fax, and normal post are also acceptable.
