With this new service named “Ovi” the company has set a direct competition with iphone users as I-phone primarily popular for the same service. This step will certainly take forward in acquiring larger share in internet business.
In fact it is a long term plan of the company in which NOKIA has signed deals with various music and online gaming companies including Universal Music Group, EMI, Sony Music, BMG and Warner Music Group. However, the company has decided to first start this in Europe and then in Unites States, and somewhere in the first half of 2008 in Indian and other Asian countries.
With this new internet service NOKIA is in direct competition with Apples’ iphone as it is popular for its music download service. However, the new service looks a step ahead than iphone as in later case the users first need to download the game or music from the internet by using a PC and then transfer the data in to the phone. But in case of NOKIA, the users can directly download games and music from their instrument.
As per the company’s plan the new service will be based on multi-device concept i.e. more in demand at the present time with a number of service at a single place. The new service will certainly help the Nokia N-Gage model to revive its popularity. This model was only popular among youngsters and did not last for long in Indian markets due its portability.
However, the company has launched two new music models: NOKIA 5310 and NOKIA 5610 and are excellent in sound quality. With this the sell of music phones will also rise considerably in the coming period.
Looking at the market condition where demand of music download is more but not through mobile handset but through PCs. Users feel to download from PCs much cheaper than from mobile phones and hence NOKIA has to provide this service with cheaper rates.
Again the company has to extend the service to all its Nseries handsets and as per the latest report NOKIA is going to launch a new N81 with much memory in space. To popularise this new service NOKIA also has to come-up with some new handsets with capability to access Ovi and also extendable memory but at a affordable price in Indian market.
