No possibility to host IPL semis and final in India: Modi

Cricket, Sun, 22 Mar 2009 ANI

Mumbai, Mar 22 (ANI): Indian Premier League (IPL) Commissioner Lalit Modi on Sunday ruled out the possibility of hosting the semifinals and final of the tournament in India.

"We explored all possibilities of hosting the semifinals and final in India. But it would have been too exhausting for the players," Modi said.

The Twenty20 is expected to be held in England from April 10 to May 24.

The decision came after the working committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held an emergency meeting here to discuss matters related to this year's IPL matches and determine a course of action that would be acceptable to all the stakeholders and the Union Home Ministry.

Modi also informed that the event would be held in only one country.

"It's not possible to host matches in more than one country. It is a mammoth task and it is going to only one country," he said. (ANI)
