Boy dies copying TV stunt

Kolkata, March 21 (IANS) A 12-year-old boy strangled himself to death in a West Bengal town Saturday when he tied himself with a rope apparently trying to copy a stunt on TV, relatives said.

Vishal Hela, 12, died at his residence at Shibpur area of Howrah town.

'Hela was watching TV Saturday morning. He saw a stunt in an advertisement or a daily soap and at once tried to copy it. He tied a jute rope to his feet and made a small loop and tried to put his head inside the loop,' said Manick Hela, the boy's uncle.

'We at once rushed to his help hearing his groans. He was taken to the Howrah district hospital. But his condition deteriorated fast and he died in the afternoon,' Manick said.
