Eunuchs gather at Agra for annual meet
Agra, March 21 (IANS) Hundreds of eunuchs from all over India have begun gathering in the city for their annual meet during which they will debate various issues facing the community.
Over 5,000 eunuchs are expected to gather for the fortnight-long meet that begins March 25, organiser Guru Haria Bai said.
Haria Bai said: 'The programmes will start with a prayer and a procession through the streets of Agra.'
Lachcho, a eunuch, said: 'The meetings and rituals are held in private behind a thick curtain and entry is banned for outsiders.'
The eunuchs arrive in style, dressed in costly clothes and jewellery, some in fancy cars.
'The members belong to all religions and regions. We, therefore, worship all the gods and goddesses and ensure there is equal respect for everyone's faith,' Lachcho said.
