PPP, PML-N leaders pessimistic about coalition's future

Islamabad, July 21 (ANI): Some leaders of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz have admitted that the alliance is becoming more dysfunctional and wobbly with each passing day.

During background discussions with the Daily Times, they agreed that the coalition was in a limbo and had no prospects of moving ahead in a meaningful way.

Some conceded that the alliance was virtually dead because of the separate political compulsions and stands of the two major partners.

One PPP leader said: "We are running out of patience due to the policies of the PML-N, which is not cooperating at all. It has brought so much embarrassment for the PPP."

However, a PML-N leader said his party had responded positively to Zardari's policies and had joined the federal cabinet despite its strong hatred against Musharraf.

"But when the government failed to implement the Murree Accord, the PML-N was left with no choice but to leave the cabinet," he said.

He said the masses would reject the PML-N if it betrayed them on the restoration of the judiciary.

The PML-N leader squarely blamed Zardari for the current state of affairs the coalition and the government were confronted with.

The leaders of both the parties were particularly worried over the fact that no meeting between Zardari and Nawaz had taken place since long, which implied of the widening gulf between the parties. (ANI)
