Cairo, March 20 (Xinhua) Two US Navy vessels Friday collided in the Strait of Hormuz, officials said.

The collision occurred between a US Navy submarine and a US amphibious vessel in the Strait of Hormuz early Friday, the Bahrain-based US Navy Fifth Fleet said.

Fifteen sailors were slightly injured and returned to duty after the accident, a report quoted the US navy as saying.

The Strait of Hormuz is an important waterway between the Gulf of Oman in the southeast and the Persian Gulf in the southwest.
