Lucknow, March 20 (IANS) Former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin may contest the Lok Sabha election from Uttar Pradesh, Congress state president Rita Bahuguna Joshi said Friday.
'Azhar has desired to contest from the state,' the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president told reporters here. 'We believe fielding him from Meerut or Moradabad will make a good impact.'
Azharuddin, who joined the Congress recently, will attend a rally of the party in Meerut March 23.
