Cadres of BJP press for election tickets

New Delhi, Fri, 20 Mar 2009 ANI

New Delhi, Mar 20 (ANI): Party workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday gathered outside the residence of senior party leader L K Advani here to press for tickets for the upcoming general elections.

Supporters of Parvesh Verma, son of former Delhi Chief Minister and BJP leader Saheb Singh Verma gathered to request the party for his ticket.

"We want Parvesh to fight Lok Sabha elections from Delhi. We have come here to meet Advani and to request him for his ticket," said Ram Kishan Singh, a party worker.

Parvesh was hoping to contest as BJP candidate from Outer Delhi, which was represented by his father, but his name did not figure in the candidate list released by the party on Thursday.

Apart from supporters of Parvesh, there were other workers who were furious for being neglected by the party in the distribution of tickets.

"I have been working for the party for the last 19 years. The way they have been neglecting us is not done. They will have to face the consequences," said Ravinder Dabbas, another party worker.

While the BJP has projected Advani as its prime ministerial candidate, the Congress has gone on record that incumbent Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would fill the top post if voted back. (ANI)
