Chidambaram to visit Orissa on Friday
The Union Home Minister P Chidambaram is scheduled to visit Orissa on Friday (March 20) to review the overall security situation ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Orissa government on Wednesday has demanded 70 companies of Central Para-Military Forces for the propose of upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections in the state.
Earlier, the Home Ministry has agreed for 10 companies of security force citing that 20 companies are already deployed in Kandhamal after the violence. The Central government has also asked the State to hold the election with 30 companies.
Chidambaram will discuss the related issues with the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik including the demand of more security personnel in the Maoist affected districts during the elections.
Meanwhile, the Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami will also pay a visit to the State on same day to review poll preparation. Orissa is going for poll on April 16 and 23.
