New Delhi, March 18 (IANS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested two engineers of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for accepting a bribe of Rs.100,000, an official statement said Wednesday.
The CBI acted on a complaint of a shareholder of a real estate firm. The firm had purchased three commercial plots in Service Centre at Sector-9 in Dwarka from DDA in an auction in January 2007.
'The complainant had submitted the required documents with the DDA for approval/sanction of building plans/drawings for those commercial plots. M.K Sharma (assistant engineer) and Kapil Deo (junior engineer), of DDA's building division, demanded a bribe of Rs.500,000 for processing the documents,' the statement said.
'The duo was arrested Tuesday while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.100,000 (as first instalment of the total agreed bribe of Rs.500,000) from the complainant in their office at Vikas Sadan here. Out of Rs.100,000 both accepted a bribe of Rs.50,000 each,' the statement added.
'The money was recovered from their possession in the presence of independent witnesses. Both were arrested on the spot,' it said.
