Rajasthan lawyers take to Legal Process Outsourcing

Tue, 01 Jan 2008 ANI

Jaipur, July 20 (ANI): Apart from BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) and KPO (Knowledge Process Outsourcing), which already have bases in Rajasthan, the Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO) profession is now heading towards the desert state.

The availability of efficient and professional manpower in the state has drawn the LPO industry to the state.

The law graduates in Jaipur hope to make their presence felt in the American market.

A team of young law graduates is burning their midnight oil in finding the legal solution to their clients sitting in United States. They hope if all goes well, their group would in near future be known as the first entrepreneurs in Legal Process Outsourcing in the state.

Although US laws are totally different from those of India but intensive research and deep study have helped them to develop the expertise to deal American cases.

"Basically it's good for young lawyers. If a fresher passes out of College, he gets a handsome amount and he can work for 5-8 hours a day. So the potential is very high. Currently the industry is worth 2.5 billion rupees and by 2010 it may rise to 200-250 billion dollars, which is a very huge potential," said Ajay Shukla, a lawyer.

"This is lucrative from the money point of view because in legal field in India, we don't have so much work so people are going towards this LPO for many purposes. It is also a glamorous job and it involves chamber work for which we don't have to go outside," said Bhuvnesh Jain another lawyer.

It is being estimated that by 2010, India stands to receive as much as 60 percent of around 40,000 legal jobs outsourced by the US legal services that would amount to around 200 billion dollar industry. By Lokendra Singh (ANI)
