"At first I didn't have a clue what it was when it happened. I just wanted to make sure the rest of the family were OK," the Telegraph quoted Poulter, as saying.
"Fortunately, Liam [their son] was at the other side of the room next to the window. Everybody was fine, we were left with a few bumps and bruises," he added.
Their six-year-old son, Jack, who was asleep in another room, also escaped uninjured.
"The damage to the house is pretty bad, the front door has been destroyed and part of the wall is demolished.
"It was a bit of a rude awakening to have this car coming through your bedroom wall."
"It is all a bit annoying, not knowing what has happened.
"I don't even know if the car has been stolen," he added.
The accident involved a Mercedes and a Vauxhall Vectra. A number of people were seen escaping the scene, and a 16-year-old boy was arrested for failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
"I heard cars driving along the street. They were racing each other," said a neighbour.
"It looked like one was trying to overtake the other when it went through the house.
"I just couldn't believe it when I saw the state of the house - I thought the cars had just crashed into each other," the neighbour added. (ANI)
