Chilean President to arrive in India on five-day state visit

New Delhi, Mar 15 (ANI): The President of Chile, Dr. Michelle Bachelet, accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Ministers of Agriculture and Women Empowerment, is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi on Monday.

 

Bachelet, who would be on a five-day official visit to India, is likely to hold bilateral talks with President Pratibha Patil, Vice-President Dr. Mohammed Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, United Progressive Alliance Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and the leader of Opposition L.K. Advani.

 

The President will host a state banquet in honour of the visiting dignitary on Tuesday. Patil would also host a cultural programme at the Rashtrapati Bhavan to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Chile.

 

The last Chilean Presidential visit to India was by Ricardo Lagos in early 2005. (ANI)
