Crowds jostle to catch glimpse of Sanjay Dutt in Lucknow
Lucknow, March 15 (IANS) Large crowds gathered to catch a glimpse of Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, the Samajwadi Party candidate for the Lucknow Lok Sabha seat, as he campaigned in the Uttar Pradesh capital Sunday.
The lawns at the Lal Baradari, where Dutt, accompanied by SP general secretary Amar Singh, arrived to attend a Holi Milan function were jam-packed and the roads surrounding the area were filled with people trying to catch a glimpse of Munnabhai.
Exchanging greetings with people at the event, he utilised the opportunity to again assert his links with the city.
Recalling that his father Sunil Dutt had started his career from Lucknow, Dutt said he wanted to assure people he too was a son of the soil.
After the function, Dutt is to hold a meeting with the traders, SP district chief Sharda Prasad Shukla told IANS.
Dutt was slated to visit the SP's party office in the evening and hold a meeting with the party's corporators and party workers, he said.
'Dutt will be taking part in similar functions in the city in the next two days also. However, Amar Singh will leave for Delhi tonight,' Shukla added.
According to party sources, Dutt is staying at Amar Singh's house, named 'Aishwarya' in the posh Gomti Nagar area of the state capital.
