Let them prove their allegations that our men have committed atrocities in Nandigram, in the meeting. Let them also go to the commission of enquiry and say whatever they have to," Basu told newsmen after CPI (M) state secretariat meeting here.
As Basu came to know that despite the Chief Minister's appeal to attend the all-party meeting, Congress had appealed to Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi to take a personal initiative in restoring peace at Nandigram, he said that the Governor did not intervene in controversial matters.
Worth mentioning here is that state government has formed a commission of enquiry to investigate the killings of fourteen people on March 14, 2007. The commission is currently working on the allegations put forward by different quarters.
Meanwhile, there were sporadic incidents of gun fire and bomb hurling incidents in Bhangaberia area of Nandigram today. Anti-displacement Bhumi Uched Pratirodh Committee (BUPC) of Nandigram is blaming CPI (M) cadres of latest spurt in violence. Till now no causality has been reported.
