Raipur, March 13 (IANS) Chhattisgarh's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has nominated two officers for the post of director general of police (DGP) following the Election Commission's demand for removal of the incumbent Vishwaranjan, official sources said here Friday.
The government Tuesday received a letter from the Election Commission, which demanded Vishwaranjan's removal from the post of DGP ahead of the April 16 Lok Sabha polls and asked the administration to send a list of names of senior police officers to succeed him.
Official sources said the government Thursday recommended A.M. Nawani and S.K. Paswan for the post although Chief Minister Raman Singh termed the Commission's decision as 'one-sided and unfortunate'.
The poll body's action was a fallout of its row with Vishwaranjan during the assembly polls in November.
