Over 50 injured during Rajasthan's stone pelting festival
Saagwada (Rajasthan), Mar 12 (ANI): Over 50 people were seriously injured during a bizarre stone pelting festival in Rajasthan on Wednesday.
Unlike other parts of the country where revelers indulge in fun and frolic by sprinkling colour on each other during Holi, the villagers of Saagwada in Rajasthan's Dungarpur district celebrate Holi by pelting stones at each other.
The festival forms an integral part of Saagwada village culture. It is conducted with great enthusiasm, resulting in injuries to scores of villagers every year.
"This is a 200-year-old tradition. Several attempts were made by the authorities to put a ban on this ritual, but nothing has been achieved so far," said Satyanarayan Panchal, the chief of the village. (ANI)
