Villagers lynch criminal in Jharkhand

Ranchi, March 10 (IANS) A man was beaten to death by villagers in Gumla district of Jharkhand, police said Tuesday. Dileep Kujur, who was released from jail last week, allegedly tried to snatch a woman's gold chain in Derangdih village, about 160 km from here, Monday night.
Police said villagers nabbed Kujur after the woman screamed.

They beat him with iron rods and threw stones at him till he died.
Later, the villagers informed the police, who sent Kujur's body for postmortem. One locally made pistol and live cartridges were found in his possession.
Police said they have registered a case against the villagers for killing Kujur.
