Melbourne, July 18 (ANI): As if her China comment at Cannes wasn't enough, Sharon Stone is once again at the centre of a controversy, this time angering animal rights group PETA for making a spider an 'amputee'.

PETA bosses are fuming after a former co-star of the 'Basic Instinct' actress revealed that she once had a tarantula defanged.

Ernest Borgnine, who starred with the actress in horror film 'Deadly Blessing', has said that she had refused to shoot with the insect.

"Sharon wanted the spider's pincers removed," The Daily Telegraph quoted him, as saying.

And now the news has horrified the animal rights group, what with PETA president Ingrid Newkirk blasting the actress for her cold attitude towards the insect.

He said: "She chose to make a tiny insect an amputee. Perhaps she should change her name legally to 'Heart of Stone.' " (ANI)
