London, Mar 9 (ANI): Actor Patrick Stewart has bagged one of the biggest theatre honours, the Laurence Olivier award, for his role of Claudius in 'Hamlet'.
Stewart has got the award for the third time, while his first Olivier dates back to 1979 for 'Anthony and Cleopatra'.
This time, the actor received the award for best supporting actor for the Royal Shakespeare Company production, which starred David Tennant in the title role.
While Sir Derek Jacobi won the best actor award for playing Malvolio in 'Twelfth Night', Douglas Hodge won the award for his cross-dressing role in 'La Cage Aux Folles'.
The musical was also named best revival at the London ceremony, reports the BBC.
Jersey Boys scooped the best new musical title, with Elena Roger winning best actress in a musical for playing French songstress Edith Piaf.
Margaret Tyzack was the winner of the best actress in a play for portraying the wife of writer Somerset Maugham in 'The Chalk Garden'.
Kevin Spacey, director of 'London's Old Vic', presented Playwright Sir Alan Ayckbourn with a special Olivier award.
The Oliviers are presented by The Society of London Theatre to honour the best West End stage productions. (ANI)
