Dendreon in the issue of Oncology reported the drug Neuvenge, to be safe and tolerated, and it stimulated significant immune responses. The drug was tested in 18 patient with metastatic breast cancer in which the dividing cell acquire an ability to spread in any part of the body. According to Dendreon 22% of the patient shows anti cancer activity in there cell including three other patient whose condition did not deteriorated for a year.
Dr. John Park, associate clinical professor at the University of California, San Francisco and the author of the report said the observation to be encouraging. He said "The T-cell responses seen in these patients and the prolonged disease stabilization in the absence of other anti-cancer therapies in many patients is promising."
"These data, together with the data we have published on the use of Provenge in prostate cancer, further substantiate the promise of active cellular immunotherapies as new treatments for different types of cancer," Dandreon' Vice President of clinical affairs, Mark Frohlich, said Friday.
Dendreon again is trading with the news of Neuvenge, its share rose to 4%. Provenge which is waiting for Food and Drug approval, also the result of its late stage trial are due in 2008.
