Kaohsiung, Mar 8 (ANI): Indian Tennis sensation Somdev Devvarman on Sunday steered India to the third round of the Asia/Oceania Group I Davis Cup competition by beating Yen-Hsun Lu 6-2 6-1 6-3.

The victory gave the visitors a 3-1 lead against Chinese Taipei.

It was an intense battle from the start with Somdev got the first chance of a break point.

Lu saved the first two break points in the fourth game but Somdev kept hitting a stunning double-handed backhand winner to break Lu, taking a 3-1 lead.

Lu made many unforced errors, which cost him the game.

India will now play the winners of the other second round tie between Australia and Thailand in May to qualify for the World Group play-offs. (ANI)
