Mohammad Yousuf downplays Pak's poor performance in Asia Cup
London, July 17 (ANI): Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf, who has pulled out of the forthcoming Champions Trophy for observing fasts during Ramzan, has downplayed Pakistan's poor performance in the recently-held Asia Cup.
He termed the team's inadequacy to beat quality opposition as "part and parcel of the game".
He said that in the present circumstances where the teams were playing a lot of cricket, it was natural to lose some and win some. He refuted the charge that his team lost due to poor batting.
"With the amount of cricket we are playing nowadays, it's not a big deal to be losing matches. We win some, we lose some. It happens in cricket. Our batting wasn't weak. In fact, we had a really strong batting line-up. The problem was the lack of overs and because of that we couldn't score enough runs [against India] but we tried our best," the Dawn quoted him as saying.
According to the paper, perhaps Yousuf forgot that his side managed to bat for the entire 50 overs in both losses. (ANI)
