PM's first official engagement after surgery
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh within five weeks of undergoing ‘repeat-bypass surgery’ will begin his first active official task on Tuesday when he holds talks with Benin President Boni Yayi at his residence.
The doctors of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where PM had gone for the ‘redo’ coronary artery bypass surgery for removing five blockages in his heart on January 24, 2009, has declared him ‘fit and fine’ on March 01 after completing the routine check up.
Till now, Dr. Singh (76) is only performing urgent official work from his home but this talk will mark his first official engagement. However, doctors have advised him to take rest for a period of minimum six-week.
Thus, this talk has been arranged at his residence instead of usual venue of Hyderabad House.
All post-operative tests have been positive and he is recuperating well, doctors said.
