Karnataka film industry celebrates platinum jubilee

Bangalore, Mar 2 (ANI): The regional film industry of Karnataka celebrated its platinum jubilee on Sunday.

 

Hundreds of fans took part in the ceremony to witness the top shots of the film industry at the famous Palace Grounds of Bangalore

 

The industry that makes more than five billion Indian rupees business every year was in full celebration mode to retrace the steps that began on March 1 way back in 1934.

 

Stars of the Kannada film industry including Kamal Hasan, who has made his mark in Bollywood and several other regional industries, were present at the glittering function.

 

State Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa felicitated the actors and artists.

 

The first ever talkie film released in Kannada language was 'Sati Sulochana'. It is also the first film to be screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom.

 

The Kannada film industry produces around 80 films a year. (ANI)
