The class 10th and 12th board examinations under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) are commencing from today (March 02) in which over 14.5 lakh students will appear in one of the crucial point of their career.
There are about 2,714 centres listed for class 10th and 2,506 centres for class 12th across the country. About 8,24,438 students, including 4,87,475 boys and 3,36,963 girls, would take the class 10th examinations, while 6,37,578 candidates, including 3,73,330 boys and 2,64,248 girls, would appear for the class 12th exams.
A month prior to the exam, the CBSE board has been providing special counselling session to students as well as parents in a total of 39 centres in different parts of the country to overcome their anxiety and examination related stress.
CBSE has also formulated special provisions for visually impaired students, who can write their examinations at 14 centres, specially allotted for them. The visually impaired students will be allowed to use an amanuensis, chosen by the Centre Superintendent of the examination. The amanuensis should be a student of a class lower than the one for which the candidate is taking the examination.
As per the rules, the special category students would be given an hour of extra time for a paper which is originally of three hours duration; 50 minutes for a paper of 2.5 hours duration, 40 minutes for papers of two hours duration and 30 minutes of extra time for papers of 1.5 hours duration.
Visually Impaired students in some places like Delhi would also be provided with computer or typewriter facility for their exam.
Further, CBSE has made a special three-tier system for surprise checks during the examinations, which include flying squads.
Furthermore, CBSE has also made available a lot of information for parents to guide their children in drawing a realistic revision schedule, to focus on child’s nutrition and to boost up their confidence in a stressful period.
