Last Parliament session adjourns sine die
The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha of this budget session have been adjourned sine die, informed Vyalar Ravi, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Overseas Indian Affairs, in a press conference in New Delhi on Friday. This was the last session of this parliament of this fiscal year and this session yielded a total of 10 sittings in fifteen days, he added.
Briefing the media, the minister said, ‘During the session, 17 Bills were introduced - 15 in Lok Sabha and 2 in Rajya Sabha, while Lok Sabha passed 22 Bills and Rajya Sabha passed 16. A Total number of 16 Bills were passed by both Houses of Parliament during this session including Appropriation (Railways) Bill, Finance Bill 2009, The Appropriation bill 2009, The Central Universities Bill, 2009 and The High Court and Supreme Court Judges (Salaries and Conditions of Services) Amendment Bill.
Two Bills were withdrawn in Lok Sabha – ‘The Central Universities Bill, 2008’ and ‘The Payment of Gratuity (Amendment) Bill, 2007’, he added.
Moreover, the session also transacted and passed financial business relating to Railways, General Interim Budgets and Interim Budget relating to the State of Jharkhand for 2009-10.
This was the 15th session of 14th Lok Sabha and 215th session of Rajya Sabha, which were commenced on February 12, 2009 with the Presidential address to the Joint Session of Parliament.
