Rajkot, Feb.25 (ANI): Inspired by Rajasthan's capital Jaipur, popularly described as Pink City, a village in Gujarat has all the its structures painted in pink to gain popularity as a Pink Village.
Patidad Village near Gondal in Rajkot District of Gujarat wears pink colour all around the year.
The concept of transforming the village into Pink was made possible by village's prominent Gayatri family.
Chandubhai Patel, head of the Gayatri Parivar, said that the family decided tohoose pink colour because it is the colour associated with God.
"We all wanted to make the Patidad village as the ideal village of the State. People talk about Jaipur as pink city, so we chose the pink colour to paint the whole village. We painted entry gate, schools, colleges with pink colour. The reason why we chose pink colour is because pink is the colour of God," said Chandubhai Patel, a man behind the project.
Be it temples or gates of the village, all have been painted in pink. Religious messages or quotes from various mythological texts have been written on the walls to inspire everyone in the village. Prominent among the quotes are from Bhagavata Gita.
The villagers are delighted to have the makeover.
"We never thought that our village would turn out to be nice like this. Because of Gayatri parivar our village has got this look, from entry gate to every nook and corner. I don't think there would any other village like ours painted in pink, " said Dhol Payal, a villager.
In Rajasthan, residents of Bhammoriya Village, 35 kilometres from Jaipur city, have also developed a Pink Village. The pink colour is considered to be a connotation of Rajput hospitality. By Suresh Soni (ANI)
