Srinagar protests over mysterious death of youth
Srinagar, Feb 24 (ANI): Protestants have forced a shutdown in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, following the mysterious death of a youth in the Parimpora area of Srinagar.
The police recovered the body of Shabir Ahmad Shiekh, a resident of Maisuma, from Shairefabad in Parimpora area at the outskirts of the city on Tuesday morning.
Sheikh had not returned to his home till late. After much search, he was found strangulated.
The body was then taken to the police control room for post-mortem.
The incident has angered the Maisuma residents who went around the commercial hub of Lal Chowk, Budshah Chowk, Hari Singh High Street and other adjoining areas and shouted slogans against the police authorities.
They are demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.
Sheikh, an auto-driver by profession was cousin of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik. (ANI)
