Pakistan is epicenter of terrorism, says Chidambaram

Khatkar Kalan (Punjab), Feb 23 (ANI): Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on Monday termed Pakistan as the epicenter of terrorism in the world, and said Islamabad has been forced by the Indian policy to admit that its soil was being used for terrorist attacks on India.

"Pakistan is the epicenter of terrorism. Our policy has forced Pakistan to admit that its soil was being used for terrorist attacks on India. They have taken some action. They have promised to take more action. We will watch and see if they take more action to take this case to its logical conclusion," Chidambaram said.

The Minister was in Jalandhar to lay the foundation stone of a memorial for martyr Bhagat Singh. Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal and Union Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni accompanied him on the occasion.

The Minister also said that a chargesheet against Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone terrorist captured in the 26/11 attacks, would be filed before the court in a couple of days.

"We will, of course, file a chargesheet in the Mumbai court in the next couple of days. We expect them to punish all those who were behind the terror attack. They must dismantle the terrorist infrastructure that has been built in Pakistan in the last 10-15 years," he added.

The Minister also talked about Pakistan's bid to compromise with the Taliban and said it could be a threat to the whole Indian sub-continent.

"Taliban is an issue that concerns Pakistan. If Pakistan compromises with Taliban, it would affect the security of the entire region. I think Pakistan must realise that," he said. (ANI)
