Grenade attack in Doda claims one life, injures two
Doda, July 16 (ANI): A grenade attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda District killed a police official and left two others injured.
According to the police, two militants attacked struck at the district police headquarters in Doda, while police officials were having their meals.
The two grenades were lobbed, but only one exploded.
Manzoor Ahmed, 24, a Special Police Officer (SPO), succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
The police have launched a search operation in the area, but no arrests have been made so far.
The Deputy Commissioner of Doda said such attacks were expected as elections in Kashmir draw near.
"I have stated earlier also that such incidents are bound to happen. The elections are about to happen and the enemy is always on the lookout for a suitable target to strike. It is the duty of the people that they become vigilant and take proper care and precaution so that such incidents can be avoided. It is the duty of both security forces and people to take care," said Khursheed Ahmed Bhat, Doda's Deputy Commissioner. (ANI)
