Lalu Yadav assures security measures for railway passengers
New Delhi, Feb 19 (ANI): Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav today said that adequate measures will be taken to ensure the safety and security of railway passengers.
Replying to a debate on the interim rail budget as the Lok Sabha reassembled after this morning's adjournment, Yadav said railway fares have been brought down by 20 per cent and the reservation through Internet is transparent.
"The funds would not be a constraint for replacing old railway lines and other infrastructure," he added.
He said further said that the surveys are also being conducted for laying the new lines.
The budget was adopted by the House later amidst uproar from some Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United) MPs of Jharkhand.
The Rajya Sabha will take up the discussion on the interim rail budget later in the day. (ANI)
