London, February 19 (ANI): British rail unions have turned down new uniforms for female staff after objecting that the blouses were see-through.
Brian Brock, of the Transport Salaried Staffs Association, revealed that female employees at National Express East Coast (NXEC) would snub the new transparent threads soon to be introduced.
"The blouses are simply too thin and too cheap. This is yet another example of National Express cutting costs at every corner," the Scotsman quoted him as saying.
A Rail Maritime and Transport Union spokesman added: "Our members are not going to wear the blouses as they are most decidedly inappropriate.
"Staff have said they are so thin they might as well not be wearing them at all."
Meanwhile NXEC blamed the unions of "mischief making" but said there was workers would not be compelled to don the uniform "if there was a problem".
It said: "This is not cost-cutting, the uniforms are of a high quality." (ANI)
