Anil Kapoor says 'Slumdog Millionaire' is what the world needs
Washington, February 16 (ANI): Anil Kapoor has said that the gigantic success of 'Slumdog Millionaire' owes itself to the recession hit people's preferences for "happy endings and that's what the world needs".
The Bollywood veteran revealed that Danny Boyle's multiple Golden Globes- and Baftas-winning film would not have been the same had it lacked Simon Beaufoy's "absolutely phenomenal script".
"It's the story of an underdog, a great love story - it's like a combination of Rocky meeting Gone With the Wind or Titanic!" Contactmusic quoted him as telling inthenews.co.uk.
"The best part of the love story is that it has a happy ending and that's what the world needs.
"There's recession and depression and suddenly a film comes along that is very gritty and real but still has a happy ending," he added.
The film is up for 10 Oscar nominations at the Academy Awards ceremony on February 22. (ANI)
