Nepal Foreign Minister says there's no alternative to current govt

Kathmandu, Mon, 16 Feb 2009 ANI

Kathmandu, Feb 16 (ANI): Nepal Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav has said that an alternative to the current government should not be sought for the next two years.

During a press meet organised by Federation of Nepalese Journalists in Ghorahi, Yadav said, "Alternative to the government should not be sought till it fulfills its task of writing the Constitution, gives a logical conclusion to the peace process, restructures the state, and revives the economy."

"These works will take at least two years to complete," Nepalnews quoted him as saying.

Yadav's remarks come at a time when the Nepali Congress is inviting various political parties to build up an effective resistance against the Maoist-led government and possibly find an alternative to it.

Yadav said the people have many expectations from the government that came into being after a long struggle and that the country might face grave dangers if it fails. (ANI)
