George IV voted 'Britain's Worst Monarch'
London, July 15 (ANI): King George IV has topped a poll of 'Britain's Worst Monarch'.
George IV ruled the UK from 29 January 1820 to 26 June 1830 after the death of his father George III.
He topped the new poll thanks to his infamous womanising, and the lavish squandering of money while the United Kingdom reeled under an economic crisis, took
English Heritage historian, Dr Tracy Borman, said that it came as no surprise that 40 percent of the votes went to the nineteenth century monarch.
"It is no surprise that George, with his lavish spending habits and eye for the ladies, has been named worst monarch," the Daily Express quoted her, as saying.
"George was the head of state when most people would have been struggling with a lack of work and large families to feed. Our own credit crunch has obviously made people feel sympathy with his subjects.
"If he were alive today, George would almost certainly be splashed all over the gossip pages with his latest mistress!"
He beat Mary Queen of Scots and war-time failure Edward II to take the title in the English Heritage poll. (ANI)
