Pak to hand over Mumbai probe to Defence Committee on Monday: Gilani

Multan, Sun, 08 Feb 2009 ANI

Multan, Feb.8 (ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has said the probe into the November 2008 Mumbai attack is complete and the findings of the investigations will be put before the Defence Committee on Monday to decide the future course of action.

Talking to newspersons after a public rally here, Gilani refused to diverge the details of investigations, and said the next step would be taken after a meeting of the Defense Committee.

He also denied commenting that Pakistan would hand over its findings to New Delhi.

Commenting on the law and order situation in the country, and in particular in the tribal region, he said his government has initiated many steps to counter the problem and militancy will be rooted out.

Gilani also stressed on the need for introducing more stringent laws to tackle militancy.

"We would enforce such laws that could provide security to the people," The News quoted Gilani, as saying.

He accepted the fact that the situation is difficult for Pakistan, and added that the global recession has affected the country badly.

"Pakistan is presently passing through hard times, and we were trying to better the economy of the country," Gilani said. (ANI)
