Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited on Thursday launched its 3G services, aptly named ‘Jadoo’, for the people of Delhi using its services with latest technological services — video streaming applications like TV movie downloads, high speed data download on mobile phones —at lightning speed.

The service will also enable customers to see their caller live on screen. Besides, users can make overseas calls using VOIP technology at just Rs 3 per min from mobile to abroad, including Europe, USA and Canada.

For Jadoo, one needs to pay just Rs 500 plus taxes as activation charges and monthly rental of Rs 599. 3G Data service will also be available at a monthly rental of Rs 149, and Rs 5 per MB usage charge.

From MTNL to MTNL, users would have to pay 60 paise per minute and on other networks it would cost Re 1 per min on local calls, while STD and ISD charges would depend on the budget plan (for voice calls). Whereas for video calls, the same network would cost Rs 1.80 and on other networks, Rs 3.75 per min, while for STD— Rs 3.75 and for ISD users would have to pay Rs 30 per minute.

3G services are initially available in NDMC areas, which will be soon expanded to entire Delhi and NCR.

The launch has been made possible on the basis of 3G spectrum allocated to the state owned telecom company by the Department of Telecommunication last year. The company had earlier launched IPTV, VOIP and latest technology ADSL 2+ broadband services as first telecom operator.

3G connections are now available for sale at selected MTNL Sanchar Haats (Eastern Court, Jeevan Tara Building Parliament Street, Jor Bagh Telephone Exchange Sanchar Haat and Mahanagar Doorsanchar Sadan - CGO Lodhi Road).

Further details are available on MTNL website ‘http://mtnldelhi.in’ or on call at MTNL’s call centers at 1503 / 22221503.

The other major government owned company BSNL are also preparing to launch its 3G services soon.
