Pak yet to respond on 26/11 dossier: Chidambaram
A day after Prime Minister Office’s clarification on National Security Advisor M K Narayanan’s comment, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram expressed the same opinion with that of Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee by saying that India is yet to receive Pakistan’s response on 26/11 dossier.
"There is no confusion. Both External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee and I have said that we have not received any response to the dossier given to Pakistan as yet," Chidambaram said on Thursday.
Earlier in a television interview to CNN-IBN, National Security Advisor M K Narayanan had said that Pakistan has reverted back to India with certain questions.
“To my knowledge, after receiving dossier from Indian official channels, the Pakistani government has reverted to us and asked number of queries to which answers were being given…I think they are yet to receive replies to the second set of queries they have made,” the NSA had said.
A day later, Mukherjee came out with a statement that NSA’s remarks are of his own and India has not received any official communication on the probe.
Yesterday in a released statement, the Government of India clarified the entire confusion by saying that Narayanan was misquoted and some of his comments were taken out of context from the detailed answer which gave a distorted idea of what was actually said.
Narayanan had also remarked that Pakistan was probing the Mumbai attacks in a manner an investigating agency should proceed by sending queries related to the dossier.
India had sent a dossier of evidence on January 5 holding Pakistan based terror outfit responsible for Mumbai attacks, but since then Islamabad has failed to respond to India’s claim, despite committing to revert back within 10 days.
