Melbourne, Feb.4 (ANI): Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises may baulk at signing Australian stars at this week's auction because of uncertainty over their availability.
The IPL is scheduled for April-May and the Australian players may be available for only the final two weeks, because of a one-day series against Pakistan, reports news.com.au.
The ODI series is unlikely to go ahead in Pakistan, but plans are under way for it to be shifted to a neutral venue. With Australia's Twenty20 players scheduled to be in England at the end of May for the Twenty20 World Cup, there may be only a limited window to play in the IPL.
In the final list of players for auction on Friday night, the reserve price for Australian vice-captain Michael Clarke has been set at a million dollars. However, even if he goes for a million or more, Clarke will receive only a portion of the big bounty if he is available to play for only a fortnight.
Queensland all rounder Lee Carseldine, who has been the shining light in domestic cricket this season, has taken his name off the list of players to be auctioned.
Many of Australia's top stars inked long-term IPL deals last year, but those like Haddin, who did not play last year, may not get the asking price they want this season.
Haddin, whose name has now been removed from the list of players to be auctioned to IPL franchises on Friday night, is weighing up his options.
"We are just in the process of talking to the IPL at the minute and it is a 50-50 bet at this stage," Haddin's manager Peter Lovitt said. (ANI)
