India signs first commercial atomic power contract with France

New Delhi, Feb 4 (ANI): India on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a French power major AREVA to build atomic power plants.
The MoU was signed by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited officials and AREVA.
Minister of State in PMO Prithviraj Chavan and visiting French Minister of State for Foreign Trade Anne Marie Idrac were present during the signing of a MoU.
Initially, Areva is expected to supply two European Pressurised Reactors of 1650 MW, each which are likely to be set up at Jaitapur in Maharashtra.Last month, India signed a contract with AREVA for importing 300 tons of natural uranium. (ANI)
