Aug 11: On a date very close to ‘Independence Day’ Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi police got a big success when they killed the divisional commander of the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Saifullah Kari the master mind behind the 2005 Ayodhya Ram Mandir attack in a combined operation against the militant.
A joint team of J&K and Delhi police on the information of his being hidden in Janipur area of the city made a forcible entry to the area and cordoned off the house where he was informed to have taken shelter.
The house in Ramzan colony, a busy locality where he was hiding is owned by a woman called Maqsooda Begum. She has been arrested by the police for investigation.
Kari, one of the most active militants’ leaders in J&K, was the one who planned the attack in collaboration with the chief of the militant group JeM and executed the attack on the temple in which all the six terrorists who were trying to penetrate the security were killed.
Battle between the two sides continued almost for two hours till Kari was shot in the end. A Delhi police sub-inspector has got a bullet in his leg during encounter with the militant. He was admitted to city hospital now referred to Delhi.
Police has arrested five of his associates too from the site.
Police viewed his presence in J&K with doubt as Independence Day is approaching. They are investigating the details to avoid any unpleasant phenomenon during the celebrations.
