Nikki Blonsky says airport squabble has made her family stronger

Washington, Feb 03 (ANI): Hairspray star Nikki Blonsky says that her family is now stronger than ever after her airport squabble with America's Next Top Model former contestant Bianca Golden.

Blonsky was detained in the Turks and Caicos Islands last July (08) along with her father, Carl and Golden after trouble erupted in the holiday destination's Providenciales International Airport lounge.

The row saw Blonsky charged with assault and actual bodily harm and Golden was also charged with causing actual bodily harm, but all of the charges against both girls were subsequently dropped.

Blonsky's father is still facing prosecution - he has pleaded not guilty to charges of grievous bodily harm.

However, Blonsky insists the family will come through the crisis - and praised her dad for standing up for her.

"We are a very strong family, we love each other and nothing will ever tear us down. I don't even need to defend myself. It's pretty obvious that it was just a big scam," People quoted Blonsky, as saying.

"He's (my father's) a strong man. He is my hero because he showed me that no matter what happens in life you can make it through.

"I never expected that somebody would try to use my fame to get themselves fame," she added. (ANI)
