JetLite joins IATA Operational Safety Audit

Mumbai, Mon, 02 Feb 2009 NI Wire

JetLite, Jet Airways’ wholly-owned all economy subsidiary has earned the proud distinction of becoming an IOSA registered airline, having successfully entered into the IOSA Registry.

JetLite will now join a pool of "IOSA" registered airlines like Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, which was registered by the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Programme, in May 2006.

This registration confirms JetLite’s commitment to achieving a safety level which is recognized and compliant with stringent international standards.

IOSA is a globally recognized and accepted benchmarking and evaluation system for assessing the operational management and control systems of an airline. IOSA uses internationally accepted quality audit principles which ensure the audits are conducted in a standardized and consistent manner. Internationally, airlines use IOSA as a benchmark to identify partners for the purpose of codeshare.

According to Mr. Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, CEO, Jet Airways, “This is a very important step for JetLite. We have confirmed that we have operational safety processes that are in alignment with all IOSA Standards, and we welcome the confirmation of our high standard of safety through IOSA Registration.”

With the implementation and international acceptance of IOSA, the industry will be in a position to achieve the benefits of cost-efficiency through a significant reduction in audit redundancy. The focus of the audit is on proper documentation of standard operating procedures and their effective implementation in various operational areas of an airline. They cover departments such as Flight Operations, Aircraft Engineering and Maintenance, Flight Dispatch and Cabin Operations, Cargo, Ground Handling Services and Security.

IOSA Registration is a condition of IATA (International Air Transport Association) Membership and is recognized in the industry as a benchmark for airline safety and quality. At present, 274 airlines worldwide have entered into the IOSA Registry.
