New Delhi is mulling over to enhance international pressure on Pakistan to come clean on its nationals’ involvement in the Mumbai terror attacks and use of its soil as well, failing which a ban be imposed on Pakistan from the world body.
As it is evident now with what report Islamabad is going to appear officially before India and the world on the Nov 26 Mumbai strikes, New Delhi is reportedly compiling a detailed list of Pakistan-based terrorists and the terror outfits who have been involved in different attacks in India since the 2006 bomb blasts on commuter trains in Mumbai, and is planning to approach UN Committee on Terrorism to seek a global sanction on Pakistan or Pakistan-based entities.
Meanwhile, amid media reports that Pakistani investigating team did not find any credible evidences in the preliminary investigations to link its territories’ involvement in the Mumbai attacks, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee reiterated that ‘India expects Pakistan to investigate and inform the outcome of the investigations through proper channels.’
“We have not received any information from Pakistani authorities through proper channel. Whatever we are hearing like you is through the media. This is not the way a government can respond,” Mukherjee told reporters at New Delhi on Friday.
He was responding on media reports quoting Pakistani High Commissioner to Britain Wajid Shamsul Hasan, who told a television channel in London on Friday that Mumbai terror attacks on Nov 26 was coordinated outside Pakistan, even not in UK, but planned somewhere in a third place. He further said the report would be ready by Saturday or Sunday.
In the meantime, counteracting Pakistan’s diversion tactics, Maharashtra government rejected Pakistan’s claims the lone captured terrorist, Mohammad Ajmal Kasab, was dead.
“Kasab is very much alive and in custody of Mumbai Police,” claimed additional chief secretary Chitkala Zutsi. Such statements made by Pakistan is nothing but to divert attention from the main issue, officials added.
