Centre to revamp health infrastructure of J&K

The Union Health Minister Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss has promised full support to Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir in refurbishing the health infrastructure of the state.

The Centre has been planning to construct new hospitals, implementing several health programmes, and recognizing and regularizing the new degree courses in the medical colleges.

 


Guaranteeing all possible help the minister said, “We recognize the special circumstances of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and we will do our best to ensure the best possible healthcare for the people of the state.”


In a discussion between Ramadoss and Abdullah, the latter raised the issue of central assistance to new maternity hospitals in Jammu and Srinagar, which was accepted by the health minister who assured that efforts would be made to raise the resources and the Planning Commission would be approached in this regard.


Moreover, Anbumani also expressed hope that the state will be provided with all assistance in training the doctors and paramedical staffs for super specialties coming up in the state under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna.


He encouraged the state to produce more opportunities for nursing colleges in the state by citing that National Rural Health Mission is a huge opportunity for the states and they should use it to create quality infrastructure.


Ramadoss also guaranteed to confer recognition to MD Paediatric in the Government Medical College, Jammu and to regularize BDS course after redressing all deficiencies in a very short time period that are going on without any guarantee of recognized degree.


Instructing the department of Ayush Dr. Anbumani said that state should explore the chances under the National Mission on Medicinal Plants.
