Aug 11: Upset with the statements of his allies, CPI and CPM, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh put choice before them that if they want to withdraw their support from the government as they are not in favour of the nuclear deal, be it.

PM reacted to the warning of the left in which they said that government will have to pay the heavy price if government went ahead with the deal.

In an interview to telegraph, PM said, “I told them that it is not possible to renegotiate the deal. It is and honourable deal, the cabinet has approved it, we can not go back on it. I told them to do what they want to do, if they want to withdraw support, so be it”

Prime minister also dwelled upon the underestimate the left is doing of the deal and the internal strength of the biggest democracy, strength of its people, culture, values.

He also dwelled upon the prospects the nuclear deal with US carries for India. As the deal will provide energy security to India and various other development options.

He also explained his government’s aspiration to improve relations with all the countries whether it is US, Russia, France, EU and especially China.

What is this non-sense about energy security. Both tie ups we are keen on, the nuclear deal and the gas pipeline, in fact tie us down to dependence on two of the most unreliable partners in the world. Iran and the US. When push comes to shove no one is going to stand by India at the cost of their own interests.
