Tripura celebrates Republic Day defying militant threat
Tripura, Jan 25 (ANI): Thousands of people in Tripura took part in the 60th Republic Day celebrations on Monday, with full vigor and gaiety, despite a warning by militants against it. .The Republic Day programme was organised at the Assam Rifles parade ground in the state capital Agartala, where Tripura Governor Dinesh Nandan Sahaya unfurled the tricolour.

Different paramilitary forces, state police and National Cadet Corps( NCC) cadets participated in the parade, which was followed by a cultural programme.
Later, the Governer distributed the President's commemoration disks among security personnel.
Governer Sahaya, in his public address during the ceremony said that Tripura had made a remarkable economic progress in the health and education sector, and many other developmental projects were in the pipeline.
The Governor appealed to the militants to shun the path of violence and cooperate in the process of development.The State administrations had deployed security personnel counter possible attacks by militant forces during the Republic day celebrations. (ANI)
