Curtains for Big Brother Down Under

Tue, 01 Jan 2008 ANI

Melbourne, July 14 (ANI): Failing to grab TRPs Down Under, reality TV show Big Brother will be shutting down after announcing its present series winner at the Gold Coast.

Channel ten execs announced that Monday's show would be Big Brother's last.

The series, which attracted up to 2.8 million viewers back in 2001 has failed to attract more than one million viewers per episode this year.

The channel will now come up with on a range of new, as yet unannounced, programs, with mostly local shows.

"This decision has been going back and forth for sometime and we have been having a very close look at it," News.com.au quoted Ten's programming chief David Mott, as saying.

"But it has still been a tough call, and while the numbers are still working it is now time for us to move forward," he added.

The 2008 series has had the lowest ratings ever. Even celebs like Corey Worthington, gay style guru Carson Kressley and Pamela Anderson failed to save the show former.

However, rumours are abuzz that a rival commercial network may take over the marooned series. (ANI)
